unWrapped 🎁

If you use Spotify or YouTube at all, then you've likely watched your "2025 Wrapped" recap this week. It's a fun way to relive and review your unique stats from the last 12 months, such as top songs, topics of interest, and apparently even info about your personality...

I find it fascinating that what we watch and listen to gives great insight into our life — even a glimpse of who we’re becoming and where we’re going.

It's true that our (inner and outer) surroundings determine our direction. What do we see and hear and think about? Who do we hang around, virtually and personally?

I love these two encounters in the book of John, when Simon and Nathanael first meet the Messiah…

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter).
John 1:42 ESV
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
John 1:47-48 ESV

Did you catch that? Jesus LOOKED. Jesus SAW. He discerned clearly, calling forth identity and destiny. These men fixed their gaze on God. They met him face-to-face and their lives changed.

The world is good at giving us labels … “loner,” “infertile,” “failure,” “addict,” etc. And even though AI-generated content can be compelling, only Jesus truly knows the gift under the wrapping paper, the heart beneath the exterior, the human being behind the screen.

He knows you. He sees you. He loves you, right where you are.

Where are you looking, what are you watching, and who are you listening to?

Ask Jesus what he sees and thinks about you. Open the Bible. Write down his word. Read and rehearse it until you believe it.

“…lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.”
Matthew 13:15 ESV

May the God of all comfort, hope, and peace reveal himself in fresh ways and unwrap his gifts and truth inside of you.

You are a gift! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and many blessings in 2026.
